The Management Information Systems (MIS) major is designated as a pre-major. This major prepares students to become information systems professionals and integrate IT solutions with business processes. The goal is to enable businesses to meet their objectives in an effective, efficient way. Available courses include:
- Advanced Business Networking
- Cyber Security Technology Factors
- Systems Analysis and Design
- Foundations of Data Warehousing
- Advanced Database
MIS majors are encouraged to network by joining student organizations for those interested in information systems careers and related professions. These include the Association for Information Technology Professionals and Epsilon Delta Pi Honor Society.
The program also provides help with internship placement at corporate and non-profit companies to gain valuable real world experience.
Career opportunities for MIS graduates are available in every industry and field. Common job opportunities include systems analyst, information systems security manager and systems administrator.
The Hankamer School of Business offers student exchange and study abroad programs that could be especially beneficial to the MIS major.
