The University of Scranton is a private Jesuit university in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1888 by William O'Hara, the first Bishop of Scranton, as St. Thomas College. In 1938, the college was elevated to university status and took the name The University of Scranton.

Bachelor of Science in  Business Analytics

Business analytics is the practice of evaluating data to extract insights that help organizations make better business decisions and solve problems. It is widely recognized as a strategic necessity in today’s competitive business environment and is a growing career field. The program prepares students for such jobs as data analysts, business consultants and market research analysts.

Why Business Analytics is in Demand

  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects double-digit employment growth for management analysts and market research analysts from 2016 to 2026, with employment growth projections for operations research analysts reaching as high as 27 percent between 2016 and 2026.
  • Forbes says “The growth rate in marketing-related analytics hires is eye-popping – up 67% over the past year, and 136% over the past three years.”
  • Business analytics is one of the fastest growing professions in the country, with job opportunities available in virtually every type of industry.
  • According to a study conducted by McKinsey & Company, the U.S. could face a shortage of 140,000 to 90,000 people with “deep analytical skills” by 2018 as well as 1.5 million shortage in managers and analysts who know how to use big data effectively.
