Master of Science in Accounting

The Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program is designed to enable graduates in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and other fields, as well as graduates in business, to complete an advanced degree in accounting on a part-time or full-time basis. The MSA program offers three tracks, Professional Accounting, Accounting Forensics, and Analytics.

The focus of the learning process is a shared responsibility of the student and instructor. Our classes are small, the contact personal. We stress teamwork and group projects, with many case analyses that include written and oral presentations. Above all, we expect each student to contribute to the education of his or her colleagues, believing that adult learners have considerable expertise to share with classmates.

The MSA program will help prepare students to test for various industry certifications, including the CPA, CIA, CFE, and CMA, by completing their professional training and/or fulfilling professional exam requirements.  Below are the recommended programs and/or courses for these exams.

CPA: MSA, Professional Track

CIA: MSA, Professional Track or Forensic Track.

CFE: MSA, Forensic Track or Professional Track; Professional Track students could include forensics classes as their electives in preparation for this exam.

  • CMA: MSA, Professional Track.

In addition to the MSA program, the Heller College of Business offers several other accounting programs at the graduate level: the MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Accounting Forensics, and the Master of Science in Forensic Accounting (MSAF).

As a whole, our Accounting programs are designed to meet the needs of any of the following groups:

Students who wish to complete their professional accounting education.

Students who wish to pursue a terminal program that will enable them to enter the fields of public accounting, managerial accounting, governmental or nonprofit accounting, and auditing.

Students who seek a concentration in fraud examination studies.

Students with majors in the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, and other fields who want to complete a professional accounting program.

Accountants and teachers of accounting who wish to advance their careers through further study.

FINANCIAL AND IMMIGRATION INFORMATION

International students who wish to study as an F-1 Student must submit the following additional documents in order to receive a Form I-20:

  • A photocopy of their passport information page
  • Evidence of funds to cover the first year’s tuition, fees, housing and living expenses (books, supplies, insurance, personal items) in the form of bank statements or a letter from the bank
  • Affidavit of Support form (if the finances you will be using belong to a parent or other relative)
  • A $500 non-refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied directly to your tuition upon enrollment.

Up-to-date tuition and fee information can be found on our website. All other living expenses (housing, books, supplies, insurance, personal items) are estimated at $17,000 per year. If the student will have a financial sponsor, the student's sponsor should complete the Affidavit of Support and submit it with an official bank statement.

If you have received a scholarship, you may use this to show part of your funding. To learn more about Roosevelt scholarship opportunities, please visit our scholarship page.

Students will not receive their I-20 until they have paid their $500 non-refundable deposit. Students should expect to receive their I-20 digitally within one week after they submit all required documents and pay their non-refundable deposit.

Do I have to submit my bank statements with my application?

We encourage you to submit all documents when you apply. However, we will review you application without your financial and immigration documents. These documents are required to issue your Form I-20 if you are admitted; they are not required to make an admission decision.

I'm not an F-1 student, do I need to submit financial and immigration documents?

All international students should show proof of their current status in the U.S. We use this information to show why you did not need F-1 student status. If you are in the U.S. in a different immigration status, you are not required to show funding. If you want to change your status, you must show funding.
