Acadia University is a public, predominantly undergraduate university located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada, with some graduate programs at the master's level and one at the doctoral level. Bachelor of Computer Science

Acadia’s Jodrey School of Computer Science will help you move beyond being just a user of computers. You will learn how to design and implement computer systems that solve real-world problems. We offer you an excellent experience during your university career. Our programs are accredited by the Canadian Information Technology Professionals Society (CIPS). This ensures that you will receive the best education possible. Small class sizes will provide you with a friendly learning environment. You will work closely with your professors. You can choose from among the following programs: Bachelor of Computer Science Bachelor of Computer Science with Honours Bachelor of Applied Computer Science Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science The Bachelor of Computer Science degree is a 4-year program meant to meet and exceed CIPS and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) standards for undergraduate programs. When to Apply

You can apply to Acadia any time after September 16. However, you need to apply by March 1st if you want to be considered for an entrance scholarship. If you are selected to receive an entrance scholarship, we will notify you by mid-April.

What you'll need

To apply, you will need:

  • $40 CDN application processing fee, which you can pay online with a credit card
  • Official transcripts from all educational institutions attended
  • Official language test results (Acadia institution code 0901)

 

Applying online takes about 15 minutes. You can come back to the application form anytime; just make sure you save the sections you have completed before exiting.

Your application must include official copies of all your high school transcripts and other records of academic work, such as courses you took at a different college or university.

*Documents submitted in support of an application for admission are retained by the University and are not returned to the applicant. All received documents are electronically stored.

Transcripts

Transcripts should be certified by the school and prepared in a sealed envelope by the school. They can either be sent to Acadia directly from the school or given to you to send. Certified transcripts acceptable to Acadia will be used as a basis of admission.

Transferring from another school

If you would like to apply to Acadia from another university or college, you must have an official transcript sent directly from that institution for evaluation.

Transfer credits may be given for individual courses that are applicable to the intended undergraduate degree program of study. Course descriptions must be included with the transcripts.

English Requirements

Since English is the language of instruction at Acadia University, you must be able to communicate competently in English both orally and in writing. If your first language is not English, you may be required to present your TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or PTE Academic scores. Acadia's English requirements are as follows:

  • TOEFL - 90 IBT with no subtest score below 20
  • IELTS - 6.5 with no subtest score below 6.0
  • CAEL/CAEL Online - 70 with no subtest score below 60
  • PTE Academic - 61 with no subtest score below 60
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced Exam (CAE) - Pass A,B or C - 180 or above with no subtest score below 173
  • PELMO - 65 with no section below 30
  • Cambridge B2 First Exam (FCE): Pass A - 180 with no subtest score below 173
  • Duolingo English Test (DET): Minimum score of 115, with no sub score below 90
  • LanguageCert Academic: 70-74 overall, with no skill under 65

If you have studied in an English medium of instruction for three years, the language proficiency requirement may be waived.

If you do not meet our English requirements but are academically admissible, you may receive an offer of admission allowing you to begin your degree program upon successful completion of our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program. For more information visit the English Language Centre.
