Master of Science (MS) in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Curriculum

Each MSEE student chooses a major and minor specialization area. Major areas include communication and signal processing, computing systems, control systems and robotics, and power and energy systems. Any of these can also be chosen as a minor area. In addition, computing can be a minor area.

The program consists of at least 30 credit hours and offers three graduating options: thesis, project or coursework.

The program is open to bachelors degree holders in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a related area.

For consideration, you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent score from another country) in your bachelors degree. Students whose bachelors degree is from an institution outside the U.S. are required to submit official scores of the GRE General Test along with the admission application.

International applicants - additional requirements

The materials listed below are not required to submit the application and receive an admission recommendation. 

They are required to receive final admit decision and an I-20.

Applicants whose native language is not English must submit official, acceptable scores for either the TOEFL, the academic module of the IELTS examination, the Duolingo English Test, or the PTE Academic. To be acceptable, the score must be sent to Wichita State directly from the testing agency and must be less than two years old.  There are no countries in Africa, South America, and Asia that are excluded from this requirement.

  • TOEFL (iBT) – 79
  • IELTS – 6.5 overall band score
  • PTE Academic - 58
  • Duolingo English Test - 115

Note:  The new TOEFL Essentials test is not currently being accepted by the Graduate School for verifying English proficiency.

International application
International applicants are not U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents with a permanent resident (green) card. This includes those in the United States on a student, work or visitor visa (or spouse).

  • Priority deadline: March 1 fall semester, Aug. 31 spring semester — Application fee - $75
  • Secondary deadline: April 30 fall semester, Sept. 30 spring semester — Application fee - $135
  • Late submission: any date after secondary deadline — Application fee - $175
  • International readmission and deferral fee — Application fee - $75
