Master of Science in Nursing

You have a passion for caring for others, and now you're ready to make a greater impact as a leader in the nursing field. We can give you the training you need to have a successful career as a nurse practitioner, a clinical nurse leader, an administrator, and more.

In fact, at UAB, we're proud to be ranked among the top nursing schools in the nation. We can give you the training you need to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner, a clinical nurse leader, an administrator, and more. As part of your education, you'll learn how to use technology to evaluate healthcare programs, implement policies that improve access and efficiency, design educational programs for both your patients and colleagues alike, and much more. Best of all, we'll give you a taste of what real world nursing is like with practicums in your particular field of study. You can train to become a nurse practitioner in pediatric primary care, family care, psychiatric/mental health, adult-gerontology acute care, or adult-gerontology primary care. Other specialty tracks can prepare you to become a clinical nurse leader or for a role in nursing health systems administration. By the time you graduate, you will have been given the training needed for a career in advanced clinical care or nursing leadership and can continue on to a nursing doctorate.

International students from non-English speaking countries are required to submit English proficiency scores (TOEFL/IELTS/PTEA) that meet the Graduate School's minimum score requirements.

*NOTE: UAB does not accept My Best Scores from TOEFL. You will need to submit individual test date score reports to your application.

 

We will only accept English proficiency scores that have been taken within a two (2) year period from the date that the application was submitted. Scores that exceed this time frame are considered expired and will not be accepted.

 

Applicants must contact the testing agency to have the official scores sent to the UAB Graduate School. TOEFL scores should be submitted to institution code 1856; Students do not need to send an official IELTS code and these scores are verified using the TRF code on the score report. PTEA results can be sent electronically to UAB through the testing website.

Typically, this is the date by which your application fee must be paid and your application submitted. Supporting materials, such as recommendations or transcripts, will continue to be accepted after this deadline for most programs.
