The University of Scranton offers three distinct chemistry master's programs: biochemistry, chemistry and clinical chemistry. Students also have the option of choosing a research track. Regardless of your program, you can expect to be exposed to faculty with a wide range of experience and expertise.

Applicants for the MS programs in Chemistry must possess, or be in close proximity to possessing, a baccalaureate degree which includes full-year courses in General and Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical or Biophysical Chemistry, General Physics, and Mathematics through Integral Calculus.

Tuition Details - The tuition for our chemistry master's programs is $965 per credit hour. The total tuition ranges from $28,950 to $34,740, depending on the program.

Degree and Minimum GPA: Applicants must possess, or be in close proximity to possessing, a baccalaureate degree which includes full-year courses in General and Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical or Biophysical Chemistry, General Physics, and Mathematics through Integral Calculus. 

Students with limited undergraduate course deficiencies may be admitted with the approval of the department, on condition that such deficiencies are corrected concurrently with their initial graduate course.

An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, as well as a GPA of at least 2.75 in the science courses.

Transcripts: Official transcripts from all schools attended are necessary to apply

Additional Requirements:

  • Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references.
  • Submit proof of English proficiency - TOFEL 80 ; IELTS 6.5 ; Duolingo 105
  • Personal Statement.
  • Professional Résumé.
  • Official GMAT/GRE Score - Applicants who do not have a 3.0 GPA may be required to submit a GRE or GMAT score or submit other evidence of their ability to successfully complete a graduate program, such as grades in other graduate-level courses or a record of progressively higher work.

Counseling programs applicants have a preferred application deadline of Nov. 15 and a standard deadline of March 1.

The following programs only accept applications to begin in the fall term:

  • Master of Science in Biochemistry, Chemistry and Clinical Chemistry
  • Master of Science in Software Engineering
  • Doctor of Business Administration
