The Master of Laws Program (LLM) is open to students who have a law degree from the United States or another country. You can select one of two LLM specializations. The LLM in American Legal Studies gives you the ability to focus on the U.S. legal system and also to take numerous electives from our wide selection of courses. The LLM in Technology, Innovation, & Entrepreneurship provides substantive training in a niche and burgeoning area of law in the tech corridor of the Pacific Northwest.

To be eligible to apply for the LLM Programs, prospective students require a law degree (LLB). Seattle University has a simple application process. Students will be required to submit the following documents along with the completed admissions application:

  • Apply Now
  • A resume or C.V.
  • A Letter of Recommendation
  • Official transcripts from all academic institutions where the student studied law
  • A certified translation must be attached if the transcript is not in English
  • Official TOEFL, IETLS, or Duolingo Score
  • The TOEFL is waived for students whose first language is English, who attended an educational institution in which English was the primary language of instruction, or who worked in an English-speaking environment for one year or more.

Fees Structure: (For the academic year 2022 to 2023):
To graduate an LLM, the candidate must complete 24 credits & the charge per credit is $1772. Every full-time candidate must take at least 9 credits per term.
 
The total Tuition cost for an LLM graduate is $ 42,528 (24 credits * $ 1772) and the cost of attendance inclusive of food, housing, and transportation for a nine-month academic year is approximately $28,737.

Scholarships:
All applicants for the LLM Program are considered for merit-based scholarships.  International students are not eligible for U.S. federal loans, however, there are several private loans available & students can receive financial aid up to 24 credits. Intakes available & Application Deadlines:

We have both Spring and Fall intake. Applications are accepted and decisions are made on a rolling basis.

To start the in Fall, i.e., August, the deadline for international applicants is April 1.

To start in Spring, i.e., January, the deadline for international applicants is November 1.
