Throughout the 12-month M.S. in Business Analytics program, you’ll build a strong foundation with courses in database management, data analytics, data visualization and presentation, data mining, and big data analytics. You’ll learn from credentialed experts within each discipline and gain in-depth understanding of relevant concepts, theories and techniques that can be applied to any industry.

At Franklin, we set you up for long-term career success by integrating industry-standard tools within the curriculum. Using SQL, a powerful tool for communicating with database, you will read, manipulate, and analyze the business data productively. With Tableau, an interactive data visualization tool, you’ll perfect best-practices to present and communicate analytics in ways that are visually appealing and applicable to business scenarios. Utilizing the analytics libraries in R and Python, fast-growing analytics tools in the modern industry, you will explore data and mine the insights inside efficiently. As a result of your exposure to SQL, Tableau, R, and Python, you’ll build the proficiency to successfully pursue positions specific to these tools, as well as industry certifications to further differentiate yourself.

Use real-world scenarios to see how data strategically impacts business decisions 

Computational and statistical techniques, including knowledge of business, are needed to function at a high level in today’s technology-driven work environments. As a master’s student in business analytics, you’ll take courses in marketing management, financial decision modeling and business analytics strategy that help you understand the role of big data in planning and operations. You’ll analyze market data to guide management decisions and use marketing analytics to create and model scenarios in order to measure return on investment and campaign effectiveness. Using financial management theories, strategies and practice, you’ll discover the impact of financial decisions through the analysis of financial statements, cash budgeting, cost of capital determination, capital budgeting and capital structure choices. 

In the business analytics strategy course, you use what you learned in the marketing and finance courses as a starting point to develop an analytics strategy for a business of your choice. Throughout the course case studies and problem-based learning approaches will illustrate options for you to consider as you shape your ultimate strategy.  

Transfer up to 12 credits and finish your master’s faster

If you have already taken graduate-level courses, you may be able to transfer credit and save time and money toward your master’s degree. Franklin offers course-for-course credit for every class within the M.S. Data Analytics – except the capstone (BUSA 695). To see if your previous coursework can be used to satisfy degree requirements, you’ll need to submit a syllabus for the course(s) you’d like to have evaluated for transfer credit. Your admissions advisor will be happy to assist you in any way.

  1. Complete the online application. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you may complete our online application or use the Common Application. You will be asked to indicate your country of citizenship when completing the application.
  2. Submit an official transcript from all secondary institutions attended.
  3. Submit official bank statement(s) displaying sufficient funds to cover the cost of tuition, room and board for one academic year.

The admission process reflects Franklin University’s efforts to clearly identify the performance standards that can help predict student success in graduate level study. The selection criterion for Franklin’s graduate programs, as determined by faculty, emphasizes academic ability, contributory work experience, and personal qualities and characteristics.

Requirements for admission include having earned a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by a Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)-recognized accrediting organization with a GPA of at least a 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.*

Applicants who earned at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in their earned bachelor’s degree will automatically be granted conditional enrollment status. Applicants who earned lower than a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in their earned bachelor’s degree can petition for conditional enrollment status to the program chair by submitting an essay detailing other criteria that the applicant believes should be considered to demonstrate their ability to be successful in a graduate program. This petition could include details on the applicant’s work experience, work ethic, level of professionalism, personality characteristics, level of difficulty of program of study previously completed, etc. 

Conditional enrollment requires students to achieve a final grade of “B” (3.0 GPA) or better in the first graduate-level course of their program. If the terms of the conditional enrollment are not met, the student will not be allowed to advance in their program and will be unable to earn this graduate degree from Franklin University.

You may also submit an official test score for one or more of the following exams. The submission of test scores is an option and is not required.
SAT: Average admit earns between 1000 – 1180 (New SAT)
ACT: Average admit earns between 20-26

International students are required to submit proof of English proficiency.  Any of the following test scores below is acceptable.

  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 79 on the Internet Based; 550 on the Paper Based
    IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
    Cambridge English: Minimum B2 level
    MELAB: Minimum writing 77, minimum speaking 3In lieu of an exam, applicants may complete the master level course with a passing score at either of the following language centers:
    ELS: Complete level 112 with passing score
    TLC: Complete level 9 with passing score

This examination requirement may be waived for students who have successfully completed substantial coursework in English-medium high schools or universities or for students who have satisfactorily completed approved English language programs such as Interglobal or ELS centers. I’m admitted, now what?

All admissions materials, including transcripts, test scores, and financial documents, must be submitted by the application deadline. F-1 students must receive their F-1 visa or transfer their SEVIS record and pay the non-refundable tuition deposit by the deposit deadline. You must arrive at Franklin by the program start date and may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before that date. All students must attend a registration appointment or group session to schedule courses with an advisor. Classes begin meeting on the initial session start date, and students are expected to have reviewed course materials before the first day. If you are unable to meet any of the deadlines, you may request that OISP consider your application for the next available term.
