Electrical Engineering That Powers the Future

Electrical engineering is a diverse field with many areas of specialization. Electrical engineers can specialize in many areas including Electronics, wireless communications, power, controls, and signal processing. Seattle University's electrical engineering program allows you to investigate these diverse topics while pursuing the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree.

In our ABET-accredited program, project-driven, self-directed learning is integrated throughout the curriculum.

You’ll build your knowledge and expand your horizons as you gain the skills you need for a career in digital or analog electronics, communications and signal processing, and new power and energy technologies that are transforming the world. You can choose your area of specialization and prepare for the career you really want.

You can also participate in humanitarian engineering. Other students have helped deliver electricity to developing countries or joined a team focused on conservation and sustainability. How to Meet the English Proficiency Requirement

Seattle University maintains the right to require English Proficiency testing when deemed necessary. The most recent demonstration of English Proficiency (i.e. test scores or course work, as per the policies described below) will be counted toward the English Proficiency requirement, regardless of whether previous scores are higher. Following the submission of English Proficiency score reports, requests for testing waivers will not be considered.

English proficiency may be met through any of the tests listed below.

The chart below outlines the English proficiency requirements for general admission as well as admission to the English Language and Cultural Bridge (ELCB) program. Both score requirements are listed below.

Nursing, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Business and Law, and Criminal Justice/Specialization in Law applicants for whom English is not their first language must demonstrate English proficiency at non-ELCB level (e.g. 86 on the TOEFL, 6.5 on the IELTS, etc.). Exceptions below may apply.

Students with TOEFL scores in the ELCB range will take a placement essay test upon arrival at Seattle University. Some students may have their ELCB requirement waived based on the results of the placement essay test.

Submit your completed application online for the fall quarter by the following dates:

  • Early Action for Fall Quarter: November 15
    • You’ll hear back in late December.
  • Regular Decision for Fall Quarter: January 15
    • You’ll hear back in early March.

For applicants who submit test scores: Your scores must be received by November 15 for early action consideration and by January 15 for regular admission consideration. We will provisionally accept self-reported scores from the Common Application to complete applications. Students submitting self-reported scores must follow up with an official score report to attend.
