Miami University is a public research university in Oxford, Ohio, United States. The university was founded in 1809, making it the second-oldest university in Ohio and the 10th oldest public university in the United States.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology

The MET program focuses on the applied aspects and design of mechanical components of mechanisms, machines, and systems of machines. Engineering principles are applied to the development of industrial and consumer products, usually within the scope of design teams. Applicants are required to have completed an associate degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical or similar engineering technology program to be considered for admission.

MET focuses on the applied aspects of mechanical and thermal-fluidity analysis of the components in mechanisms, machines, products, and systems. The program requires a thorough understanding of applied mathematics and the engineering sciences. Students will develop the essential skills needed to apply experimental and empirical techniques to the study of systems and the solution of problems. This knowledge is used to research concepts, apply modeling methods, simulate and test operating conditions and their impact on the designed systems, and synthesize different elements to obtain an optimum design of a specific product. The program is accredited by ABET, Inc., the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology.

Transfer Credit

Miami University recognizes the differences in educational systems and takes these into account when placing international undergraduate students at the appropriate level in their degree programs. Academic credentials are evaluated within the context of the educational system of the country where the student has studied. Comparisons are made with educational programs in the U.S., and students are placed at levels that are suitable to their educational background.

The following information should be submitted to have any previous studies at a non-U.S. institution tentatively evaluated for transfer credit:

  • A copy of your up-to-date university academic record (transcript) showing all courses completed and grades.
  • Course descriptions and/or course syllabi for each subject considered for transfer credit from a non-U.S. post secondary institution. The descriptions should include a list of required readings, the number of class hours required for each course, and the length of the academic term(s) when enrolled. Since the academic departments at Miami University determine whether credits earned abroad will be accepted as equivalent to courses offered at Miami University, credit is awarded on a subject-by-subject basis.

Students transferring from a U.S. institution may find more information about how to request a transfer credit evaluation
