The Sacred Heart University, fondly known as the SHU, is a private Roman Catholic university located in Fairfield, Connecticut that was founded in 1963. The University was the first Catholic university in the United States to be staffed by the laity. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar and it offers over 70 degrees programs. The SHU consists of five colleges including College of Arts & Sciences, Jack Welch College of Business; College of Health Professions; College of Nursing, the Isabelle Farrington College of Education and the School of Communication & Media Arts and the School of Computing.
