Create Safe and Sustainable Solutions That Make a Positive Mark on Communities

The MS in Civil Engineering degree program at UCF reflects the very broad nature of the field, which encompasses the design, construction and enhancement of the infrastructure of society. It’s an opportunity to advance your knowledge and specialize in one of four subdisciplines, including structural and geotechnical engineering, transportation systems engineering, water resources engineering and smart cities. Plus, civil engineering tracks are available fully online, offering the flexibility and convenience for you to balance work, school and life.

As a transportation gateway for global commerce, Central Florida’s become a hub with various connectivity options. You’ll have the opportunity to help develop transportation science and technology innovations that will create safe and sustainable solutions for generations to come. Throughout the program, you’ll also participate in two project design courses which allow you to duplicate real-world engineering problems and work through them with a small design team.

Civil engineering graduates often find positions in consulting firms, construction and construction-related industries, government agencies and academic institutions. Additionally, this program prepares you for professional licensure and certification opportunities to help further your career.

The full language of the UCF Admissions Regulations for Graduate Students can be found at regulations.ucf.edu/chapter2.asp (UCF-2,003, UCF 2.0031, UCF 2.009).

International students, except those who are from countries where English is the only official language, those who have earned a degree from an accredited US college or university recognized by UCF, or those who have earned a degree from a country where English is the only official language or a university at which English is the only official language of instruction, are required to submit a score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) before they can be admitted to the university. Although we prefer the TOEFL, we will also accept the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores. Students who are non-native speakers of English (and do not have a degree from a U.S. institution) must pass the English Speaking test administered by the UCF English Institute before they will be permitted to teach as a Graduate Teaching Associate or Graduate Teaching Assistant.

A TOEFL computer-based score of 220 or 80 on the internet-based TOEFL (or equivalent score on the paper-based test) or 6.5 on the IELTS is required unless otherwise specified by the program. The list below includes programs that have determined a minimum required TOEFL or IELTS score higher than the university requirement.
