Admission Requirements

  • Master’s Degree:
    Applicants must hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in graduate studies is required.
    • Note: Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 must submit GRE scores.
  • Professional Experience:
    A minimum of three years of full-time professional educational experience is required.
  • International Students:
    Must meet the minimum graduate admission requirements for international students at Missouri State University.

Admissions Process

The admissions process for the EdD program is a comprehensive two-phase system designed to build a diverse and well-rounded cohort. The goal is to foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Phase 1: Required Application Materials

  1. Transcripts:
    • Unofficial transcripts are required at the time of application.
    • Official transcripts will be required upon admission.
  2. GRE Scores:
    • Required only if the applicant’s graduate GPA is below 3.0.
  3. CV/Resume:
    • Must detail at least 3 years of full-time professional educational experience.
    • Educational experience is broadly defined; include and describe all relevant roles.
  4. Personal Statement:
    • Should demonstrate alignment between the applicant’s goals and the mission of the EdD program.
    • Include reasons for pursuing a doctorate, career aspirations, key educational issues of interest, and how the program aligns with your professional goals.
  5. Letters of Recommendation:
    • Three (3) recommendations required.
    • At least one must address the applicant’s academic ability and performance.

Phase 2: Advanced Application Materials (by invitation only)

Selected candidates will be invited to complete Phase 2 and will have 15 days to submit the following:

  • Three Video Responses
  • One Essay Response
